dropdown box issue with firefox

Firefox version: 3.6, 4, 5
Is there a known issue with dropdown boxes in firefox? When I click on the down arrow, there is no popup with scroll bar appearing to enable me to select values. Happens only on firefox versions given above.
But if I click tab to get to the dropdown field and then press up and down arrows, I can see the values appearing (but still no popup with scrollbar)
The same code works very well in IE 7 and 8
