Thoroughly Confused
I've been a programmer for almost 10 years. I have some friends that I golf with and I thought it would be nice to do a little web page for us. We could keep track of our handicaps and whatnot. I downloaded version 2.0 two nights ago and it's the best thing ever, but $300 bucks is a little steep for a free website that only 5 people will ever see. So I was really stoked when I found version 1.0 was free. I've been at this for 9 hours now and I can't make it work. I thought I was pretty good with javascript and I've been programming oop PHP for 4 years now. But I'm completely lost with this thing. Thanks for making it so confusing that nobody can use it.

"Nobody" = You
Professional Programmer? I doubt it. Before you slam the product. Go to the examples directory. Then try to modify whatever example you think you could use to suit your own needs. If you fail, or have a question, feel free to ask on these forums after you've searched them.
That is the best way to learn. And yes, I thought I knew alot about Javascript too. But I learnt new things as I went along the struggle of implementing the grid. Took me a total of 3 hours before I could do what I wanted with it.
Whiney baby "programmers" like you pisses me off. You don't _want_ to learn anything new. And I'm pretty sure you just use whatever PHP code there is out in the world and modify it with the little knowledge you do have about it to do your job.
Go take a course or something.

No, thatÂ’s not fair and I guess Jake is right about version 1.0 being overcomplicated and not properly documented. Someone should not take a course to be able to use simple GUI toolkit.
Unfortunately version 1.0 API was designed to get maximum speed at the expense of everything else and that was due to the previous (unreleased) attempts which failed because rendering speed was too slow (all that was 3-4 year ago when typical processor speed was 500MHz).
I just hope that version 2.0 is somewhat better, i.e. more simple, though there are lots of things to fix still.

I have very basic knowledge of Javascript to begin with and I found implementing version 1 very easy and have since modified it several times to include advanced search, filters and database paging.
It is NOT complicated at all; and if you're worth the title "Programmer" it shouldn't be. If you're Joe Soap off the street doing this as a hobby, then yes, I can understand his confusion.
Version 2 is even EASIER to implement. Hell, most of the work I've done on version 1 is there plus it's faster...
So don't talk yourself down Alex. If he doesn't want to pay $300 he can go somewhere else or stick with version 1 which is free...
