hidden id onclick

I have a hidden column that contains a unique ID... what I need is to pass that id to a function when a user clicks on any of the elements of a row.

Does anyone know how to go about doing this? I'm using xml data.

I also need for a php
this is what i need:

row.setEvent("ondblclick", "(MM_openBrWindow('contacts.php?action=update& id=7' ,'lkkl','resizable=no,width=700,height=500'))");

that is popup and i need to retrieve id
can anyone help me???
