Sort by Date - Date Range

Hello,

I've selected the format as the Date for a grid column and I've the following formats as the Dates in that column:

01 Dec 2009
01 Nov 2009
01 Nov 2009 - 15 Nov 2009
10 Nov 2009
01 Jun 2009 - 15 Aug 2009
10 Dec 2009

etc...

How in this case we can sort? Can we customizethe sort ?
