Returned value from combo

I'm new to ActiveWidgets, I write php. I am having a problem passing the selected value from a combo box thru to the next page. I am not sure what the post/get values should be or even if they are created. Do I have to write a value to a hidden input field to pass the value? if so where is the value stored? I have copied the example code from the kit and it seems to work fine if only I could find the value. I am probably missing something obvious, but I have been trying for several hours to get this working and getting no where. Any help greatly appreciated.
