Force Edit Mode

Is there a way to programmatically set a cell into Edit mode other than the double click? I would like to be able to put the cell into edit mode with a given event.

I think you could look at this link

Basically activate the cell on an cell event and fire of an function on the obj to set the cell to editable.

ok, but i want to do it programatically, without a mouse event. Or is it possilble to fire a mouse event without having a mouse event ????
