Bug report :AQUA skin ?
Alex,
Am I wrong or there are still some small problems with skin aqua?
Here I talk only about the layout of the controls :
The button doesn't change onmouseover,
The combo button does not appear correctly? (same as monochrome skin, but no cool blue!)
These issues only occur with aqua skin, I checked all the others.
The grid is also really great in aqua skin, congratulations.

The fly-over color change is an XP thing, other Windows versions don't have it. The other styles don't have it either. I don't see any problem with the combo control, it seems to work/look fine. It has dark blue to indicate selection, just like the List control does. Sure there might be some tweeks to it but all in all I feel it is working fine.
Use the Aqua style as a blueprint to create your own skins, this is a great start! Thanks for the new skin Alex.

well,
I checked aw.css in aqua skin dir, and there is no link to file combo.png which is supposed to represent the combo... so I don't think that it appears correctly...

Correct, there is not. That doesn't mean that there is supposed to be one. There is no link to that PNG in the classic or the mono styles either. If you take a second and look at the combo.png file that is in the agua folder, you will see that it is the exact same file that is in the xp folder (if it were specific to each skin it would be a different file with a different look and feel, but it's not). So, in my opinion, the only mistake here is that the combo.png file should not be in the aqua folder. The control works fine like it is. If you create a link to the combo.png file, just as it is in the xp folder (as you suggest it should be), you will find that you loose the arrow image on the right of the combo alltogether. It works better like it is.

Okay jim,
you are playing with my words...
Then, it might not be a bug, I agree, then it is just a question :
Are the button and combo PNG files necessary, or should I wait for the CSS file to be updated...
In my opinion, the aim of the authors is to get a combo represented by the blue picto, as it is on mac os... I know it differs from your opinion jim, but I really tend to think that my idea might match the author's.

The button.png is absolutley necessary but the combo.png file is not used at this time. If you are not seeing blue on the button when you click it then you might have something else going wrong. I agree that the combo could look a little nicer if it had a blue drop down arrow, but not having it doesn't make it wrong. The style is called 'aqua' not 'MacOS' so any differences between this style and the Mac are allowed. I did not assume that this style was supposed to mimic a Mac.
So we can agree that the current style does work, but by adding a little color to the combo it would be more in tune with the 'aqua' style.

Nice Jim, now we completely agree, and I'll take care of my vocabulary further on.
So of course the aqua skin is working, and the reason why I created this post was to get it even better, cause it justs looks fantastic.
Now I have also found that there is no onmouseover for the button, but onmouseclick, the button changes. So this is working perfect.
Do you know how I can reproduce the macOS feature on the combo or should I wait for Beta3.

You would have to see how the behavior is dealt with in the XP style, then create your own image to use. I tried simply inserting the missing link to that file and it caused the arrow to completely go away. That was the extent of my testing. Since I am going to be using XP style for my application I will not be spending any more time on the other styles. I will be creating my own style in the future, but that's not till next year. I need to be able to replicate the look of our Windows app and we have many 'Themes' in our windows program (the themes are limited to color choices only) so I am creating different 'base' classes that can be swaped in to give the app a different color scheme while still using the XP styles. I did this by creating my own base class that controls the colors and borders and I assign this class to all controls I create so they all take on the same colors. Then just changing that one class changes the colors of the entire application. Pretty simple way to do it.

So Jim,
I see you also spent your nights and days on this forum...
I was testing extensively the skins today, that's the reason of my remark... but in fact, I never used a macintosh in my life, so I don't even know which behavior to expect... but the skins are a great new feature, and I'll be expecting yours!

Michel is right the button should have a mouseover effect all aqua styles I have seen do this. the combo works but needs to have the same look as the rest of the skin
also michel is right you must have a boring life
November 17,
Not exactly what I meant!

Alex,
will you correct this on beta3, v2 final, or never, and I'll take care of it myself?
Thks

I like how people take personal pot shots at you but don't bother posting their names. What are you afraid of? That the next time that you post a question that I will not assist you if I knew who you were? I do spend a lot of time reading the forum posts, that's how I am able to answer posts and help people. That's something that most people appreciate, apparently not you. And Michel wasn't remarking that I have a boring life, it was a comparison to his time spent of the forums. I certainly didn't take it as being offensive, but I do consider your post offensive and uncalled for. I get paid to develop applications using ActiveWidgets, hence my time spent on the forums.

Hi everybody,
I read the post, and agree with Michel about missing parts of the Aqua skin... I have seen another one that is not in this post :
The scrollbars shouldn't be displayed like they are now... even though there is no scrollbar image in the associated folder!!!
Anybody knows about this? will it be corrected for stable version?

I guess I am not visualizing what you are saying about the scroll bars, can you elaborate a little more on it? Was it a certain demo you looked at using a certain browser and a certain DOCTYPE?
Jim Hunter
December 1,
Well,
I am having the same aspect for the scrollbar (buttons and scroller ) and the combo (box and button). It looks like a white square with gray array and borders on both of these controls
There is a combo.png file in the aqua template (not used apparently), but no scrollbar image (sorry if I wasn't very clear)
Therefore, I think the problem is related...
i don't know much about DOCTYPE, but it appears on both FF and IE.

I think I see what you are seeing. You see a scroll bar but you feel that there should be a more fancy one then the simple one that is there. Is that correct? I see scroll bars but they consist of just a gray rectangle. I agree that they could look nicer like the XP style is. I am willing to wait until the functionality of version 2 is finished before fine tuning the skins.

You got my point Jim...
I think that this shall be standard, and (cause) I really have no idea on how to tune the skins...
So I guess I shall wait also
