Paging in new version?

Congratulations on first release of version 2. I have recently come to ActiveWidgets and am excited by its potential.

In the early stages of playing around with the toolkit I was interested in getting 'paging' working - and I saw you had a patch available for this. In some of the forum comments I also saw that it was intended that basic paging would be integrated into the new release. Is this so? If so how is it done? (apologies if have missed this in the new version so far....)

the new grid already includes some support for paging. You can use setRowOffset method to force the grid counting row indices not from 0 but from the starting number that you specify. And horizontal panels template could be use to make another fixed footer for pager controls, etc. But I have not assembled all this into working paged grid control yet. I am planning to have this before final release but it is not included into beta1.

On the other hand the new virtual mode could in many cases allow you to get rid of paging completely.

I like the virual mode a lot and think this is a better alternative to paging. Is there any way to speed up the sorting at all, by perhaps doing the minimum amount of work needed to sort by just the clicked column?
