How do I sort by date when the input is a CSV file?

I've tried the various override things I've seen for JS or XML, but they seem to be ignored.

I figured out the problem from a close examination of other people's sorting examples. After figuring out what's supposed to happen, I'm even more impressed with the beauty of the design. I wish the particulars of sorting were documented a little better with examples.
