click on checkbox in a grid cell twice

Click on a checked checkbox in a grid cell, the checkbox is unchecked.

But trying to click on an unchecked checkbox in a grid cell, user needs to click two times (the first click behaves as the cell gets focus, the second click checked the checkbox). Is there a way to check an unchecked checkbox with one click?
