Set value on checkbox in a tree

I have build a dynamic tree with checkbox like described on post http://www.activewidgets.com/javascript.forum.18719.2/how-do-i-create-treeview.html. But I have the problem that all checkbox show the mixed value. Exist the way to set the value of each checkbox at build time o after? Thanks
