Grid Flicker With IE

I am experiencing a problem with my grid when I have checkboxes and/or buttons in it. When I scroll up or down through the grid my screen has to re-render each button and checkbox on at a time. It does it rather slowly and because of it we are considering discontinuing use of ActiveWidgets.

I also have a mouse over effect on the grid that highlights the row that the cursor is on, which again causes the buttons and checkboxes to flicker off screen screen and be re-rendered. Is there a way to fix this problem? I hope so since I would like to continue using ActiveWidgets.
