XML data not showing in grid after a menu button selection

I have been able to successfully display xml data in the grid. The problem is that if the user selects and options from a coolmenu bar, sometimes the data from the xml url is displayed and sometimes it does not.

I am using a servlet to generate the xml. IE does not appear to give this trouble, however, Mozilla and Firefox does.

Any suggestions. I am using AW 1
