virtual grid with form elements

Hello:

So from testing, it appears that a virtual grid that has form elements is probably a bad idea?

From what I can tell (and I guess it doesn't really surprise me that much) only those form elements that are visible (maybe + 5 on either side of the viewport) are actually instantiated (and thus posted with the form).

Is that known and/or expected behavior? If I want a grid with form elements, am I forced into non-virtual mode?
