Collapsing the Grid

Hey, does any know how to collapse the grid but retain the vertical scrollbar? I'm trying to setup an expandable control that when the user has made a selection the grid collapses to show only the row headers. I can do this by setting the width of the control but when I do I loose the vertical scrollbar.
