3.2.0

Reminder - AW price increase

The ActiveWidgets 2.0 Standard Edition will be released this week – February 8th. The previous version (1.0.2) will not be sold separately after that date (but will be provided on request to 2.0 customers free of charge). All existing 1.0 customers will receive free upgrade to 2.0 Standard Edition.

The version 2.0 will be sold on the same terms as 1.0 – including the source code and including 12 months free code updates subscription.

The version 2.0 will not be released under any free open source licenses.

Version 2.0 prices:

Standard Edition (released Feb 8):
- Single developer $395 (upgrade from 1.0 single developer - free)
- Site license $2450 (upgrade from 1.0 site license - free)

Professional Edition (released end of Feb)
- Single developer $1850 (upgrade from 1.0 single developer - $695)
- Site license $9850 (upgrade from 1.0 site license - $3950)

The difference between standard and professional editions is in browser and doctype support. The standard edition works only in IE and Mozilla/Firefox with 'quirks mode' doctypes, while professional edition also supports Safari (and Opera in 2.1) and both 'quirks' and 'standards-compliant mode' doctypes.

'quirks' mode doctypes supported by the standard edition are:

No doctype declaration
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2 Final//EN">
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

All doctypes which trigger "standards-compliant" mode will require ActiveWidgets Professional Edition.

So in case you are thinking of buying AW license - you can still get it at 1.0 prices but only during the next two days (until Feb 8th).

Is there any support besides the forum when a license is purchased? Is there any difference in support between standard and professional versions?

Jim D... that's a great question. There is an interesting debate going on about this topic. Feel free to post your concerns.

So there is no misunderstanding, I didn't ask the questions about support as a complaint.

I'm just looking for information about any additional support that might come with a license and whether there is an option for some kind of paid support, by incident or subscription or whatever.

Jim,

customer emails are usually answered within 2-3 business days but there is no guaranteed response time. There is no paid support option yet, however we can discuss this if there is a demand.
